Last updated: 23 August 2019.

Your privacy is super important to us. When you use the Service, you are consenting to the collection, storage, transfer, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Policy in effect at such time. This Policy seeks to detail the types of information we collect (I) on our Site; (II) in email or other electronic messages between you and Socius; (III) through Socius mobile and desktop applications. Please review this Policy periodically for changes.

At Socius we have a few guidelines by which we operate:

We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services and you may request to delete it at any time.
We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.

Gathering of Personal Information

The amount and type of information that Socius gathers depends on the nature of the interaction with our service. For example, we ask new customers to provide a username and email address as well as necessary personal and financial information required to process payment transactions. In each case, Socius collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Socius.

Socius does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the provision that it may prevent them from engaging in certain activities.

Gathering of Non Personal Information

Socius collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Socius collects this information using technological tools such as cookies and beacons as explained further down. Socius’ purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Socius’ visitors use its service. From time to time, Socius may release non-personally-identifying information publically, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its service.

🍪 Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer or device, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Socius uses cookies to help Socius identify and track visitors, their usage of Socius websites, and their website access preferences. Socius visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their device should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Socius’ websites, with the drawback that certain features of Socius’ websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
